More Information

San Francisco 49ers
After being signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an unrestricted free agent following the 2009 NFL Draft, he was released on the final day of roster cuts. He was subsequently signed to the practice squad. He was signed to the active roster on January 6, 2010. In the 2012 season he exceeded expectations by becoming a starter, and by performing at or near Pro Bowl caliber levels. One journalist called Boone one of the most underpaid players in the NFL.

Boone joins the Vikings after spending the previous 6 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. The former All-American at Ohio State originally joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2009 where he spent the entire season on the practice squad. The 28-year old became a full-time starter in 2012 and has appeared in 77 career games, making 59 starts. Boone has started 59 of the last 60 games he has appeared in.
The Cleveland native has extensive playoff experience, appearing in 8 games while making 6 starts, including SB XLVII vs. Baltimore in 2013. San Francisco appeared in back-to-back NFC Championship Games in 2012 and 2013. The 49ers rushing attack has ranked in the top 8 in the NFL in 4 of the last 5 seasons. 49ers RB Frank Gore would benefit from Boone and the talented offensive line as he made the Pro Bowl 3 consecutive seasons from 2011-2013. Vikings Offensive Line coach, Tony Sparano, was with Boone in San Francisco in 2015 where he served as the Tight Ends coach.
