Vincent Jackson’s future with Bucs and NFL still a mystery

With the 2017 NFL season set to kick off in just a few short months, there’s still a lot of questions and uncertainty surrounding wide receiver Vincent Jackson and his status with the Bucs.

The Buccaneers have yet to sign him to a new deal and since the team has added a plethora of options for Jameis Winston to work with, it appears the Bucs have already made up their minds about parting ways with the veteran receiver.

Jackson’s status with the team has been questionable since the 34-year-old finished the season on injured reserve with a knee injury. The veteran receiver just finished a five-year, $55.5 million contract and officially became a free agent on March 9, though he has yet to sign with any team.

Although there has been a significant decline in his play, Jackson has still managed to rack up 4,326 receiving yards and three Pro Bowl appearances as a Buccaneer. Jackson has also made an impact off the field through philanthropy and finding ways to give back.

When rumors began circulating that there was a possibility he could retire, ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported Jackson has no intentions of retiring. As of now Jackson is still a free agent and is testing the waters because he obviously believes he still has a lot to offer a team.

However, the good news is although business may not be boomin’ for Vincent Jackson on the field right now, he’s still killing it off the gridiron. He owns a thriving restaurant called “Cask Social” in South Tampa. He runs his very own “Jackson in Action 83 Foundation” and he’s the officer of a real estate company along with several other titles. Something also tells me that even if he doesn’t sign a contract with the Bucs or another team in the league, the franchise will be more than happy to hire him for a new role at One Buc Place since he has been such a monumental piece to the team’s success during his time in Tampa Bay.
