Vincent Jackson’s charity work stands out on Memorial Day

Vincent Jackson has done a lot of charity work with veterans and military families in the Tampa Bay area since signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers way back in 2012. Given that it's Memorial Day, Kelley Evans of The Undefeated decided to highlight Jackson's charity work. The whole article is worth a read if you're unfamiliar with his work in the community.

"The military lifestyle is so transient," Jackson said. "For me personally, it’s seeing the appreciation these families have. The smiles from the children and the hugs from the moms — the fact that they don’t take it for granted is very rewarding."

Jackson is far from the only Bucs player to engage in extensive work with charities, and the Bucs direct a lot of their players to participate in the community and come to team-related charity events. But Jackson is probably the most visible player out there in terms of charity work. He and his wife have written a children's book, among many other things, and are highly visible to anyone who's paying a little bit of attention to the team, or the military in the area.

As a former army brat, Jackson also has a special connection to the military community. He won the NFL's 2016 Salute to Service award for his charity work the past years.

With Jackson's contract running out next year, there's a real danger the Bucs may lose out on his valuable charity work in the community. That would be a shame, but whichever team he'd sign with next, wouldn't just be getting a quality player on the field. They'd also be getting a dedicated off-field charity campaigner.
