Giants free agency 2018: OG Patrick Omameh is latest acquisition

There is no rest for the weary! The New York Giants continued the re-shaping of their offensive line on Wednesday night with the signing of guard Patrick Omameh.

Omameh, 28, is a four-year veteran who spent his last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In an odd twist, Omameh is the player Andrew Norwell — who chose Jacksonville over the Giants earlier this week — will replace in the Jaguars’ lineup.

Omameh, an undrafted free agent, started 16 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014. He started all 13 games he played in last season for Jacksonville. He has also played for the Chicago Bears. Omameh has 45 starts in 53 career games.

Here are Omameh’s three-year grades from Pro Football Focus:

The Giants have had a busy day, agreeing to terms with left tackle Nate Solder and DE/OLB Kareem Martin, and signing journeyman cornerback Teddy Williams.

The signing of Omameh is more evidence that D.J. Fluker won’t return to the Giants. It is also probably an indication that John Jerry could be on his way out, especially since the Giants have re-signed Jon Halapio and John Greco.

The signings of Solder and Omameh, and the tendering of restricted free agent center Brett Jones, show that the Giants are well on their way to revamping their offensive line.
