Chargers Sign Craig Watts After Impressive Weekend

Craig Watts participated on a tryout basis in the Chargers rookie minicamp last weekend. After an impressive showing, San Diego signed the offensive guard to a contract today.

Watts is a 6-4, 334-pound lineman who starred at West Texas A&M.  He started all 14 games as a senior and was named the Lone Star Conference’s Offensive Lineman of the Year.  Watts was named to several All-America teams over his career and took home First Team All-Conference honors in 2013. Overall, he played in 50 career games with 41 starts for the Buffaloes.

The athletic Texas native excelled at track & field and wrestling in high school as well. Watts joins college teammate Torrence Allen on the Chargers roster and is the team’s second signing in as many days after the Bolts added running back Branden Oliver on Wednesday.
