NFL CAREER – An experienced, versatile veteran, Nesbit thrived in 2006 when given the opportunity to settle into a starting role. He opened all 16 games last season at left guard and teamed with tackle Jammal Brown to give New Orleans a solid duo on the left side. Entering his ninth season, Nesbit has started 71 of 117 contests in his career and is known as both a physical player at the point of attack and technician in pass protection. A cerebral player who has the versatility to play every position on the offensive line, prior to last season Nesbit had seen time with the Saints at both guard positions, at right tackle and as a reserve at center. The former undrafted free agent was a consistent starter for the Carolina Panthers from 1999-2002, opening 45 of 53 games before signing with Jacksonville in 2003.

2006 – Started all 16 games at left guard for the first time since 2001 and the first time with Saints…Also opened both postseason contests…Offensive line key component in club featuring NFL’s No. 1-ranked offense, averaging 391.5 yards per contest. 2005 – Played in all 16 games, starting three at right tackle when T Jammal Brown was sidelined with injury and started at right guard at Minnesota, Sept. 25…Also saw action as a blocking tight end and on special teams…Started at right tackle vs. Atlanta, Oct. 16, as Saints rushed for season-high 211 yards…Appeared in his 100th career NFL game vs. Detroit, Dec. 24…Started at right tackle at Tampa Bay, 1/1/06. 2004 – Played in 16 games, starting four at left guard…Saw majority of playing time on special teams… Opened at right guard at Tampa Bay, Dec. 19. 2003 – Primarily served as a backup, starting at LG at Tennessee, Nov. 16 and at the N.Y. Jets, Nov. 23. 2002 – Played 14 games with 13 starts…Inactive for two games with ankle injury. 2001 – Started all 16 games (15 at left guard and one at center)… Helped offense set club record for fewest sacks allowed in season (31)…Made first NFL start at center at San Francisco, Oct. 7. 2000 – Started 16 games at right guard for Carolina. 1999 – Lone undrafted rookie to earn roster spot… Played in seven games, mainly on special teams, and inactive in nine contests.
COLLEGE – Started 11 games as a senior in 1998, earning second-team All-SEC honors…First-team All-SEC as a junior and sophomore…As a sophomore, one of only 11 players in the country named to CFA’s Good Works Team, in recognition for his outstanding community service work…Named to SEC’s All-Freshman team in 1995 after starting last 10 games at guard…Graduated with a dual degree in marketing and business administration.
PERSONAL – Married (Tara) with sons, Bryson and Michael…Attended Summerville (S.C.) HS, where he was named All-America and All-State… Father, Ronald, works for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Jamar lived abroad during his first 13 years. Lived two stints in Germany around two-and-a-half years in Saudi Arabia…Played soccer and baseball before moving to U.S. at age of 14…Played organized football for first time in the 10th grade…Full name: Jamar Kendric Nesbit.
